School is finally back in session and fall is just around the corner! Although I will miss summer dearly, fall in Los Angeles is seriously the best time of year. I know we don’t get to experience the whole “changing of the seasons” bit, but during this time of year, we have the best weather ever. If you live here then you already know, but if you plan on visiting anytime soon I’d suggest coming during the months of September-November. Not only is the weather nearly always in the upper 70s but the crowds of summer have all gone. Plus, there a ton of fun fall activities. So today I am going to be sharing a few of my favorite things to do in LA during the fall. Read more
Currently sitting here downing a cup of coffee just trying to stay awake because this morning we were up bright and early. When I say “bright and early” I am talking like 6:30 am, which for this momma, may as well have been 4 am. I am not an early riser so for me to get up at that time it has to be for something special. Which was exactly the case because today we went to check out the Space Shuttle Endeavour at the California Science Center! Read more
In just a few hours I am going to be in Palm Desert, sipping, lounging, and of course, chasing my little ones in and out of the pool. As of today, I am in total VACATION MODE. Never mind work, cleaning, and packing, which I am dreading the most! What is it about packing when you have children that make it exciting, daunting and terrifying all at the same time?? Forget one specific outfit or toy and the vacation is “ruined” according to your six-year-old. I swear she is such a drama queen. Luckily I have a way of combatting such forgetfulness that this momma is so prone too, lists! Yes, before packing I will sit, with a pad of paper and pen in hand, and make a complete list of everything that I need to bring. Shirts, shoes, toothbrush, diapers, wipes, bathing suits, toys…you get the idea. Anyone else write these little vacation packing lists, or is it just me?
I feel like we are already in the dog-days of summer and our break just started! It’s already July and I don’t even have a decent tan yet! Haha. Anyways, the other day I took the girl to a local park that sits just above the beach. It was such a beautiful day; Sunny, warm, cloudless sky, and just a slight ocean breeze. It couldn’t have been more perfect. Read more
June has finally arrived and summer is just around the corner! That being said, I have already begun to plan different activities to keep the kids and I entertained during those long summer days. While we’ll be frequenting the beach and park quite often, I have tried to think of other activities that are both educational and fun. So as a sort of “test run” of said activities, I recently took the girls to visit the Lomita Railroad Museum. While I was super enthusiastic about our impending visit, Hayden (my oldest) didn’t seem to be thrilled with the idea. Lucky for me, her tune changed once we arrived. Read more
About time, right?! I know, I have been seriously lagging…again. But in my defense, I am just getting over a slight cold and recently just started a new job! So I’ve been a bit preoccupied and haven’t even thought about writing. But this post is long over-due. With the baby currently napping, I figure why not take advantage of the quiet time. Read more
Now that the kiddies are officially on Winter break here in LA, I’ve had to plan a few extra special outing just to keep my little ones from going stir crazy. Although the weather has been pretty cold here, to LA standards, the days have been relatively clear and sunny. So I have been trying to incorporate as much of the outdoors as possible. While going to our favorite park is always fun, sometimes we need a little change of atmosphere. Luckily for us, there is a gem of a botanical garden located not too far from our house that we love to visit.
For many years the Point Fermin Lighthouse has been at the top of my list as “one of the places I need to visit.” I have always been interested in history, so naturally, I gravitated to this historic structure. Yet having always lived so close, literally down the street, I tended to always put off my visit, until recently. One day, on a whim, I decided to catch a tour not really knowing what I was in store for. Luckily everything worked out well but if you are not the type of person to be so spontaneous, here is what you need to know as a first time visitor. Read more
Is it just me, or do any other mothers out there dread hearing: “Mom what are we doing today??” Without fail that is the question I get asked every weekend from my oldest daughter Hayden. I’ll be honest, most of the time my answer is “I don’t know” or even better “It’s too early leave me alone.”
